St. Michael’s Gate
St. Michael’s Gate with its large gate that was decorated in 1906 with the three archangels: Raphael on the right, Patron of travellers, Gabriel on the left, messenger of the Annunciation. In the centre is St. Michael (guardian of doors and entrances), given as a gift in 1887, put in place in 1908 and relocated in 1956 to beside the building known as Abri Michael. From here is an open area.
300 meters separate St. Michael’s Gate from the Crowned Statue. The Breton Calvary at 12 meters high is a gift from the dioceses of Rennes, Quimper, Vannes an St. Brieuc, and dedicated on 13th September 1900.

St. Joseph’s Gate |
St. Joseph’s Gate
St. Joseph’s Gate contains a statue of St. Joseph that is 2.5 meters high. An inscription declares; “I am placed as a guardian.” It was a gift from the diocese of Lyon in 1909. From St. Joseph’s Gate, the path leads towards the Crowned Statue. Travelling this short shaded path, one becomes entangled in the stream of pilgrims and sick people dispersing onto the Rosary Square. One then emerges into the light.
