The work on Project Grotto, the Heart of Lourdes, is finished. On 4th April 2018, the new Pilgrim Way was solemnly inaugurated four years after the launch of the venture. A new page in the history of welcoming pilgrims to Lourdes has just opened.
The founder of Project Grotto, the Heart of Lourdes, Bishop Nicolas Brouwet, bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes, left Béatrice Lagarde, Prefect of the Hautes-Pyrénées, to cut the ribbons, thus inaugurating the new Pilgrim Way in the Sanctuary of Lourdes. After visiting the Grotto, pilgrims are now invited to make the water gesture downstream of the site of the apparitions, then to light a candle on the other side of the Gave, on the right bank. After a succession of speeches delivered under the new awning over the Baths, the authorities came together at the new location of the candles, where the old-fashioned burners have become chapels of light, which Bishop Brouwet solemnly blessed. Then it was a detour to the new Stations of the Cross, accessible to people with reduced mobility, called "the Stations of the Cross of the Sick".
All the work of Project Grotto, the Heart of Lourdes, achieved thanks to the generosity of so many donors (again a huge thank you to each of them) is finished. A new page in the history of welcoming pilgrims to Lourdes has opened today.
