For the Feast of the Assumption (the Assumption to Heaven of the Blessed Virgin Mary), there are many thousands of pilgrims expected to arrive in the Marian city in the Pyrenees. On the morning of the 15th August 2017, the International Mass will be consecrated at 10am on the Prairie of the Sanctuary and will be presided over by Mgr Nicolas Brouwet, Bishop of Tarbes and Lourdes. One of the main highlights of the Feast will be the Marian Torchlight Procession commencing at 9.00pm on the evening of the 15thAugust, but which will also take place on the 14th August, the evening before.

Father Michel de Roton, who was twice Rector of the Sanctuary of Lourdes, passed away in the Retirement Home of Saint-Frai in Tarbes on Saturday 3rd June 2017. He was 85 years of age.
