target=\"_blank\">49:1-6<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-18c11e1d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"18c11e1d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This reading is a little unusual.\u00a0\u00a0 Whereas most of the\u00a0 Old Testament\u00a0 prophecies speak about Christ in the third person, here we have Isaiah speaking the words of Christ Himself.\u00a0\u00a0 One of the effects of this is to draw us into a deeper intimacy with Our Lord as He reveals Himself to us.\u00a0\u00a0 The opening words invite us to\u00a0 <em>listen<\/em>\u00a0 showing that the initiative is the Lord\u2019s \u2013 He wants us to know Him deeply.\u00a0\u00a0 The more carefully we listen, the better we will get to know Him.\u00a0\u00a0 One of the aspects of\u00a0 Saint Bernadette\u2019s\u00a0 ecstacy at the Grotto before\u00a0 Our Blessed Mother\u00a0 was her attentive listening to what was revealed to her.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-53370ef elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"53370ef\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d38dc48 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7d38dc48\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are two references to Jesus present in the womb of His mother (verses 1 &amp; 5) which point to His humanity.\u00a0\u00a0 Many find it easier to accept Christ\u2019s divinity than His humanity.\u00a0\u00a0 Do I believe that Jesus was God in a human body or that He was mysteriously and uniquely both divine and human with two natures?\u00a0 It is more difficult to understand the depth of His suffering if we emphasise His divinity.<br \/><br \/>However Jesus was not unique in being called before He was born.\u00a0\u00a0 At Lourdes Mary identified herself as\u00a0 The Immaculate Conception, chosen and formed for her mission from the moment of her conception.\u00a0\u00a0 When we look carefully at the life and character of\u00a0 Saint Bernadette,\u00a0 do we not see a strong resemblance to Mary herself?\u00a0 Similarly, each one of us who is baptised was chosen before birth and has a unique mission and place in the Church.\u00a0\u00a0 Do I accept who I am, my status, character?\u00a0 Do I accept where the Lord has planted me, my family, nationality?\u00a0 The Lord is reaching\u00a0 the ends of the earth\u00a0 (verse 6) through each one of us.\u00a0\u00a0 Do I accept and even rejoice in the uniqueness of others, each with his or her specific contribution to the Church and the world, or would I prefer others to be more like me?<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e8f3771 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2e8f3771\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In His humanity, the Lord shares with us that He thought He had toiled in vain but afterwards comes to know that the Father was with Him through it all and appreciates Him (verses 3 &amp; 4).\u00a0\u00a0 How much faith does it take for me to believe that the Lord is with me not only in my successes but definitely in my failures too?\u00a0 To what extent are we able to assess what is success and what is failure?\u00a0 The Lord Jesus Christ is also with me in my death.\u00a0\u00a0 We are not called to be successful but to persevere in belieiving that through all our trials we are\u00a0 <em>in the shadow of His hand<\/em>\u00a0 and\u00a0 <em>concealed in His quiver\u00a0 <\/em>(verse 2).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5e83b93 elementor-widget elementor-widget-testimonial\" data-id=\"5e83b93\" I leave You to judge my successes and failures.<br \/><br \/>Let us pray the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory
