As part of the Lourdes 2030<\/a> plan, the Sanctuary of Lourdes<\/a> is continuing to transform its landscaped areas so as to offer pilgrims a more peaceful, accessible and environmentally friendly setting.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Among the notable achievements, the Jardin du Recueillement (Garden of Reflection<\/strong>) was inaugurated opposite the Grotto in 2019, offering a peaceful place of prayer combining vegetation, simple d\u00e9cor and comfortable seating. This project is part of the overall redevelopment of the area surrounding the Grotto, which began after the floods of 2013, with a new layout for the candle banks and water taps, and the creation of a modern footbridge connecting the two banks of the Gave.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since 2024, a new garden has been under construction between the Saint Joseph and Saint Michael gates<\/strong>, covering an area of 5,000 m\u00b2 freed up by the demolition of old dilapidated buildings. A pavilion will complete this new facility. This future \u201cSanctuary Garden\u201d<\/strong><\/a> outside the \u2018domaine\u2019 will welcome pilgrims and visitors, who will be able to enjoy it as an urban park…<\/span>
Finally, an ecological stabilisation programme for the banks of the Gave i<\/strong>s underway: rockfill, replanting and educational activities carried out with young people are helping to preserve the site while ensuring it is part of a sustainable and educational process.<\/span>
