A renewed welcome for priests at the heart of the Sanctuary<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As part of its extensive Lourdes 2030<\/a> transformation plan, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes<\/a> is committed to offering priests a more dignified and welcoming environment that is better suited to their mission. While the facilities dedicated to pilgrims<\/a> are regularly modernised, those reserved for celebrants also required some special attention.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

A residence undergoing complete renovation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

As part of this initiative, in 2022, the Sanctuary undertook the complete renovation of the Esp\u00e9lugues I and II buildings,<\/strong> located near the chapelains’ community<\/strong><\/a>, at the start of the Stations of the Cross<\/strong> <\/a>of the same name.
The first building was designed to accommodate priests who come for fortnightly periods as auxiliary confessors.<\/strong> Thanks to private donors<\/strong><\/a>, we are able to offer simple but dignified accommodation, in a spirit of evangelical simplicity, while ensuring essential comfort for those who give their time to support pilgrims<\/strong><\/a>. This building has been named \u2018Abb\u00e9 Pomian\u2019 in memory of the priest who heard Bernadette Soubirous’ first confession at the very beginning of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
The other building has been named \u2018Louise and Fran\u00e7ois Soubirous,\u2019 in honour of Bernadette’s parents. It has been refurbished and adapted to accommodate seminarians<\/a> who offer their services to pilgrims from all over the world during July and August.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
