Every year, thousands of pilgrims from all over the world make their way to Lourdes<\/strong><\/a>, drawn by faith, hope and prayer. Throughout the Sanctuary, a discreet yet vigilant presence keeps watch day and night. The Sanctuary guards<\/strong>, working in conjunction with the Central Security Office<\/strong> and the police<\/strong>, keep everyone safe.<\/span><\/p>

Over the past few years, in collaboration with the sanctuary\u2019s security department, the \u2018Pilgrims on Watch\u2019<\/strong><\/em> initiative has been developed. These pilgrims play an active role in ensuring the safety of the Sanctuary of Lourdes<\/strong><\/a>. <\/span>
As volunteers, they are committed to keeping a watchful eye on their surroundings and reporting any suspicious behaviour to the Central Security Post, whilst carrying on with their pilgrimage<\/strong> <\/a>as normal.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The spirit of Lourdes is one of unconditional welcome.<\/strong> A number of facilities have been put in place to ensure that all pilgrims \u2013 whether elderly, sick or handicapped \u2013 can enjoy their pilgrimage to the full<\/span>
Access ramps, lifts and adapted accommodation<\/strong> demonstrate a special concern for those most in need. The volunteers<\/strong> <\/a>and members of the Hospitality of Our Lady of Lourdes<\/strong> <\/a>work tirelessly to support, assist, transport and listen to visitors. Here in Lourdes, vulnerability is not a limitation:<\/strong> instead, it is a path towards encounter and shared faith.<\/span>
Making a pilgrimage to Lourdes means walking in the light of faith, but also in mutual trust. Safety here is everyone\u2019s responsibility: it is built on respect, care and shared vigilance.<\/strong><\/span>
