RELIGIOUS ASSOCIATION UNDER THE FRENCH 1905 LAW
DIOCESAN ASSOCIATION OF TARBES AND LOURDES
(Association Diocésaine de Tarbes et Lourdes)
_________________
The purpose of the Association is to cover the costs and maintenance of the Catholic faith in the Diocese of Tarbes and Lourdes, under the authority of the bishop, in communion with the Holy See, and in accordance with the constitution of the Catholic Church. The religious and pastoral activities of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes are carried out by the Diocesan Association.
As a religious association established in accordance with the provisions of the French laws of 1 July 1901 and 9 December 1905, the Diocesan Association of Tarbes and Lourdes is authorised to receive gifts, donations and bequests, as religious associations in France are treated as public utility associations with regard to the authorisation to accept donations, gifts and bequests.
For taxpayers in France, the Diocesan Association of Tarbes and Lourdes benefits from a total exemption from inheritance and transfer duties (Article 795 of the French General Tax Code). Thanks to this tax exemption, assets transferred to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes by bequest, donation, or gift upon inheritance from taxpayers in France are thus entirely allocated to the pastoral missions of the Sanctuary.
