Following the Eucharistic Procession

You can take part in the procession in honour of Jesus Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament every day.

Go and tell the Priests that a chapel should be built here and that people should come here in procession“, the Virgin Mary asked Bernadette during an Apparition. Every day from April to October at 5.00pm the Lourdes pilgrims respond to the request of the Virgin Mary by gathering for the ‘Eucharistic’ Procession.  The Procession starts in the Prairie of the Sanctuary and finishes in the Basilica of Saint Pius X with a time of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament followed by the blessing of pilgrims, with the sick occupying the front rows.

The Eucharistic Procession dates back to 1874. It has assumed different forms according to the times. In very warm or bad weather, the procession is replaced by ‘Eucharistic praise’.
