The “chapelains” of Lourdes

The Sanctuary of Lourdes would not survive without the “priest-chapelains”. They participate in the celebrations, each in their own language, and in doing so, make prayers to Our Lady of Lourdes accessible the world over. We wanted to talk to them about the bonds they have forged with Lourdes.

In the service of Our Lady of Lourdes

When he arrives in Lourdes, a priest puts himself at the service of Mary, by listening to the pilgrims.

He needs to be both a historian; able to answer questions about the apparitions of the Virgin to Bernadette Soubirous, and sometimes also a confidant; giving the sacrament of reconciliation.

He is also ready to answer a question that is often asked, how should we pray for vocations?

Let us pray together that the priests may know how to be ready for and to welcome pilgrims and visitors from all over the world, and that they may help them all to be touched by the radiant light of Heaven.
