The mission of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes is to welcome pilgrims on pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Pilgrimages* can be undertaken individually, in groups or as part of an organised group. From popes to ordinary visitors curious to discover the Sanctuary, everyone is a pilgrim making a pilgrimage to the Virgin Mary, Immaculate Conception.

The unique feature of a pilgrimage to Lourdes is the welcome and priority given to pilgrims who are sick or disabled. Special accommodation is also provided for them. Contemplation, prayer, calm and timelessness are the hallmarks of this journey of faith that defines a pilgrimage to Lourdes.

* Devotional or penitential journeys to sacred places where a particular religion or ritual is practised. The places are where, for example, relics are kept, where a saint lived, or where God chose to reveal himself to man through an apparition or miracles.
